I think they really didn't expect nomads, other than Manchurian tribe, to ever go for Chinese Emperor when they are doing the patch, because every nomad that's not Manchurian got f-up as soon as they become the emperor of China - they don't usually accept enough Chinese culture to stop the disaster from happening, their original religion doesn't get harmonized immediately when they become Emperor and they always have low mandate.
I think the most problematic part of the free patch is that. One could easily run into religious conflicts if he/she has large amount of heathen territories, and that bascially kills the potential of "religious idea", but since they said they are going to revoke that mechanism, I don't think too much of it, partially because I spent the most of my time modding and watching AI killing each others these days. That said, I honestly think they probably should consider about adding an stellaris-like sector mechanism (like "provincial/regional government") to regulate the corruption from having too much territory and take back some control of the income from terrtories while giving the sector a more independent status (which would be even more historically accurate if that's what pdx is going for).Īs for reglion, well, I think it is not wrong to say they really f-up that one. It certainly makes people think twice when they try to blob, but the actual penalty of having corruption is not very punishing if you think about it (other than tech/stability cost, corruption literally does nothing, it even helps players to deal with unrest!). This is just my guess, but I think the state/territory+corruption idea is actually an attempt to simulate histocial situation where large empire tended to have hard time checking their officials historically. I like free patch stuff that comes with Dharma, the concept of the government thing is really interesting.
